Safety Valet

To help get your child safely to school on time, we are starting a Safety Valet Program on Monday, November 3. The valet lane will be available Monday - Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. You must enter the drop off lanes coming from Palms Blvd. You will not be able to make a u-turn to enter. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we begin this new system.
 
What is a Safety Valet Program?
Parent volunteers and staff direct drivers into a designated lane marked by traffic cones. Drivers stay in their cars and pull to the front of the line. Students exit the car and are directed into the gate. Parents should have students ready to exit their vehicle quickly, with all belongings packed.
 
Here’s what you need to know about the new procedures:
  • Safety Valet Entrance: The valet area on Bentley Avenue will be clearly marked. Parent volunteers and school staff will be outside to welcome students and assist with the process. Please note that you must enter the drop-off lane from Palms Blvd. You will not be able to U-turn on Bentley Ave.
  • Drop-Off Procedure: Cars will drive through the valet line, and children will exit safely from the passenger side. To keep the line moving, please have your child ready to exit quickly—backpacks and other items should be in the car with your child, not in the trunk.
  • No Stopping or Parking on Bentley Avenue: Cars may not stop to let children out unless they are using the valet program. There will be no parking along the school side of Bentley Avenue.
  • If You Prefer to Walk Your Child: Please park in the surrounding neighborhood and walk your child to the gate.

DO:
  • Pull ALL THE WAY forward as much as possible, following the directions of volunteers and staff.
  • Have your child(ren) ready to get out of the car quickly, with backpacks easily accessible.
  • After your child(ren) exits the vehicle, efficiently and safely exit the lane to make room for other parents.
  • Treat volunteers and staff with patience and respect. They’re enforcing rules that have been set up to ensure safety and efficiency. 
 

DON’T:
  • Never get out of your car. Please ensure that all caretakers who drop-off in the  morning are aware of this important restriction. 
  • Don’t have backpacks in the trunk of your car. Backpacks should be with your child(ren) or easily accessible in the front seat.
  • If your child is in a harnessed carseat, the seat should be easy to undo and the child should be ready to get out with the help of a volunteer, not a parent. If a child requires assistance and more time, you need to park on the street and walk them in.
  • Child(ren) can not be let out on the driver side of the car. Students have to be prepared and able to exit the passenger side by the curb. 
 

Other Ways to Drop-Off

If you would like to walk your child to the gate, please arrive early and park on a surrounding street. During construction, no parking will be available on Bentley Ave., but you may park on Charnock Road. All students should enter through the gates on Bentley Ave. 
 
Please do not stop in the middle of the road to let your child out of the car. This is extremely dangerous and creates traffic congestion. Instead, use our Safety Valet Program.
